Who We Are & What We Do

The Mt. Helix Council serves the 21 local PTA and PTSA units in the La Mesa - Spring Valley School District.

We support the local PTAs with leadership training, volunteer management and tools, and idea sharing.

We promote the PTA Reflections Program and offer an annual art fair to showcase the student entries.

We get involved in district-wide activities that promote parent involvement and improve the lives of students.

REFLECTIONS ART CONTEST . . .

March 12, 2012:  Congratulations to Benjamin S from Spring Valley Middle School whose Award of Excellence Literature entry is moving forward to the state level of judging!

Congratulations to the following students whose PTA Reflections Art Contest entries reached the Ninth District level of judging and received awards! Their entries will be on display at the Ninth District reception March 2nd and at the Mt Helix Council PTA annual meeting March 21st!

DUE DATE! Please submit these at the Council Meeting or send to Beth Bacting / La Presa Elementary PTA via district mail:
  • Unit 2010-2011 End of Year Financial Report
  • Insurance remittance ($199 payable to Mt Helix Council PTA)
  • Assessment ($120 payable to Mt Helix Council PTA)

October 15  
DUE DATE! Please submit these to Beth Bacting / La Presa Elementary PTA via district mail:
  • Unit 2011-2012 Annual Budget due
  • Unit End of Fiscal Year Audits (usually January to June)
  • Ready, Set, Remit! Memberships due ($4.75/member--check payable to Mt Helix Council PTA)
  • Amend your bylaws with the new National Dues amount ($2.25). If this is the only change, you do not need to update your bylaws.

November 1

  • First Remittance of Per Capita Dues (minimum of 15 members must be received to stay in good standing)
  • Copy of IRS Tax Filings
  • Insurance Payment
  • Workers' Compensation Annual Payroll Report Form (must be submitted even if you do not hire workers)

Ninth District Art Reception (6-8pm) to celebrate the Ninth District Award of Excellence and Award of Merit entries in the PTA Reflections Contest; art will be displayed in rooms 401/402 of the San Diego County Office of Education campus at 6401 Linda Vista Road, San Diego 92111. All are welcome to attend; light refreshments will be served. We have 7 entries from Spring Valley Middle, Lemon Ave Elementary, Maryland Avenue Elementary, Murdock Elementary and Murray Manor Elementary on display at this reception.

Mt Helix Council Annual Meeting & Founders Day celebration at La Presa Elementary School auditorium, 519 La Presa Avenue, Spring Valley 91977. PTA Reflections entries will be on display 5:30-6:30pm and artists are encouraged to come and be recognized from 5:30-6:30pm.
